Sekido Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Takayuki Oshita), an authorized distributor of DJI (D-J-I) providing business solutions utilizing drones and 3D scanners, will host a free seminar in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, organized by Sekido Fukuoka (Operated by Reimei Sekido Co., Ltd.). The seminar will offer hands-on experience in creating 3DGS (3D Gaussian Splatting) models on July 24, 2026 (Fri) and August 20, 2026 (Thu).

This seminar will use XGRIDS' handy scanner, PortalCam, to demonstrate the basics of high-definition spatial capture using 3DGS, from shooting and scanning to the production flow using the model creation software Lixel CyberColor. Participants can visualize how to apply this technology to their business operations while observing the representation of glass transparency and reflections, as well as fine contour details, which are difficult to express with conventional 3D models.

The seminar will be conducted in small groups with a maximum of 5 participants per session, where instructors will demonstrate and explain PortalCam's operation and key production points. It is designed to provide concrete insights into 3DGS as a new expressive technique.

High-Definition 3DGS Model Creation Realized with PortalCam

XGRIDS' PortalCam is a handy scanner capable of generating high-definition 3DGS models that can reproduce glass transparency and reflections, as well as fine contour details. It enables the representation of textures and intricate shapes that were difficult with conventional 3D models, and is expected to be utilized in a wide range of fields including VR/game development, video/film production, real estate promotion, tourism resource dissemination, virtual exhibition spaces, and cultural heritage preservation.
