【Post-Event Report】Mikako Shida Joins Chiikawa to Preview the 'Movie Chiikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island' Collaboration Fair

Seven-Eleven Japan Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tomohiro Akutsu) will launch the 'Seven-Eleven × Movie Chiikawa: Let’s Create Island Memories with Chiikawa!' campaign starting July 21 (Tue), rolling out sequentially at Seven-Eleven stores nationwide. Ahead of the campaign, a PR announcement event titled 'Seven-Eleven × Movie Chiikawa: Let’s Create Island Memories with Chiikawa!' was held on July 15 (Wed).

At the event, Noriyuki Okajima, Executive Officer and General Manager of the Marketing Division at Seven-Eleven Japan, explained the campaign’s initiatives and product lineup. Special guest Mikako Shida made an appearance, and in a surprise moment, the characters Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi also appeared, energizing the audience.

At the start of the event, Noriyuki Okajima from Seven-Eleven Japan took the stage to explain the overview, objectives, and expected impact of the 'Seven-Eleven × Movie Chiikawa: Let’s Create Island Memories with Chiikawa!' campaign.

He stated, 'The Chiikawa campaign began in 2024, making this the third iteration. In the December 2025 campaign, we successfully attracted many customers to our stores through Chiikawa, allowing them to enjoy a fun experience. We’re building on the success of last year’s campaign and enhancing it further for this summer’s event.' He also added, 'To promote the movie, we’ve curated products that align with the film’s storyline, aiming to immerse customers in Chiikawa’s world. We’ve also prepared exclusive goods and the Enami Lottery that fans will love, creating a lineup that appeals to a broad range of customers,' presenting the campaign with enthusiasm.

Shida appeared at the event dressed in a refreshing summer dress. When asked by the MC for her thoughts on the upcoming fair, she said, 'I’m a big fan of Seven-Eleven and use it frequently, and I also love Chiikawa, so I’m extremely excited that these two are collaborating. It makes visiting Seven-Eleven even more enjoyable.' The event began in a warm and cheerful atmosphere.

The conversation turned to the collaboration fair 'Seven-Eleven × Movie Chiikawa: Let’s Create Island Memories with Chiikawa!' Shida shared her excitement about the movie: 'I’m really looking forward to it! Ever since the movie was announced, I’ve been eagerly wondering what kind of story it will be and what adventures Chiikawa and friends will go on. Now that it’s finally about to be released, I’m truly excited.' At that moment, the MC surprised the audience by announcing, 'The adorable characters you just mentioned are here with us today as special guests!' Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi made a surprise appearance. 'They’re so cute! They’re full of energy, and I’m thrilled to be this close to them. I feel like I want to protect them,' Shida exclaimed, waving enthusiastically and visibly thrilled.

When asked about recent exciting experiences and challenges she’d like to try, relating to the adventurous theme of the movie, Shida shared, 'Recently, I bought some Chiikawa merchandise, and since it was a random item, I felt so excited wondering what I’d get when I opened it!' She shared a heartwarming personal story reflecting her affection for Chiikawa. 'I love saunas, and this summer, I’d like to try new adventures like river saunas or lake saunas—enjoying a sauna in nature and refreshing myself with a natural cold bath. I’ve been into it for the past two or three years, and I even memorize lines while in the sauna. Doing it in such hot weather gives me confidence that I’ll never forget them,' she revealed, sharing her unique method for memorizing lines.

Next, Shida participated in a quiz about the fair’s menu items, with the prize being a chance to taste them. Confidently answering all questions correctly, she earned the opportunity to sample the 'Movie Chiikawa Island Fruit Parfait' and the 'Movie Chiikawa Pink Passion Pitaya Smoothie.' Regarding the parfait, she commented, 'It’s delicious! It has a strong mango flavor with a rich fruit presence, and the yogurt mousse is refreshing—perfect for this season.' She expressed her delight with a surprised expression. After tasting the smoothie, she said, 'It’s delicious! Fruity and refreshing, it really gives me a tropical vibe—perfect for summer! The packaging is cute too, very photogenic. I’d definitely want to pick it up!' She delivered an enthusiastic food review, highlighting the appeal of the collaboration products.

Finally, regarding the collaboration fair starting July 21 (Tue), she concluded the event by saying, 'This collaboration between the Chiikawa movie and Seven-Eleven will bring many delightful products that are enjoyable both to watch and to eat.
