Seven-Eleven Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tomohiro Akutsu) will launch two onigiri products based on 'Kashiwa Meshi,' a regional dish from Kyushu, at 2,470 Seven-Eleven stores across the Kyushu region (as of June 2026) starting Tuesday, July 14.

'Kashiwa Meshi' is a familiar home-style dish in Kyushu, traditionally made with chicken (referred to as 'kashiwa' in the region) and burdock root. Seven-Eleven has long offered this as a limited-time item in Kyushu, receiving positive feedback from customers. These two new products, now available exclusively in the Kyushu region, are also recommended to be enjoyed alongside noodle dishes such as udon and soba.

Seven-Eleven will continue to launch products that celebrate Japan’s rich food culture and support regional revitalization initiatives.

About 'Kashiwa Meshi'

In Kyushu, chicken is traditionally called 'kashiwa,' and this dish features rice cooked with chicken and vegetables. The onigiri uses tender breast meat from young chickens raised in Kyushu. The rich flavor of chicken is enhanced by a carefully simmered chicken broth base, delivering a deeply savory taste.

Comment from the Product Team

'We aimed to expand our lineup with dishes that local customers are already familiar with and enjoy daily. We hope not only local residents but also visitors touring the region can experience and enjoy Kyushu’s unique food culture through these products.'
