Seven-Eleven Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Tomohiro Akutsu) has been engaged in activities to donate surplus food from remodeled stores and daily necessities to social welfare councils, as well as food drive activities to collect surplus food from customers and employees and donate it to those in need. As a result, the total weight of donated items over the five years from fiscal year 2021 to fiscal year 2025 has reached a cumulative total of approximately 654 tons.

Seven-Eleven is promoting initiatives that connect a portion of inventory items, which may still arise even after efforts to sell them before store renovations, to local support. This is done in conjunction with food drive activities where donations are received from customers based at stores, and food drive activities where food is collected from Seven-Eleven Japan employees based at district offices nationwide. In addition to food, daily necessities that support livelihoods are also included, and mechanisms have been established in various regions to deliver them to those in need in collaboration with municipalities, social welfare councils, and support organizations. Furthermore, the "Food Drive Activity," where unused food that is surplus in households is brought to stores and delivered to local support organizations, is also being sequentially expanded at stores nationwide.

About Donations

Seven-Eleven makes donations and contributions in various forms as part of its efforts to pass on a prosperous society and environment to future generations.

1. Product Donations

We have been proceeding with the conclusion of "Agreements on Social Welfare Contribution Activities through Product Donations" with social welfare councils and municipalities nationwide. A portion of inventory items generated during store renovations is donated to social welfare councils. This contributes to reducing food loss and also supports social welfare contribution activities.

Comments from Person in Charge

We at Seven-Eleven wish to be a presence that walks alongside the communities. We have built a system to convert the unavoidable surplus that arises, even after making every effort to deliver products properly until the end each day, into a warm force that supports local welfare and livelihoods.

As we continue our activities, each time we receive a "thank you" voice indicating that the donated food and other items have led to local support, we strongly feel the significance of our efforts. All the activities introduced here are made possible only through the warm feelings of our customers and the careful coordination of municipalities, social welfare councils, support organizations, and others. We express our sincere gratitude. We will continue to expand this activity, which turns "waste" into "thank you" for the local community, while staying close to each individual in the community.
