Funaioken Supply Chain Consulting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Naoyuki Hashimoto) held the July meeting of the newly established 'Truck Maintenance Subcommittee' at the 'Logistics Provider Management Research Meeting' for transportation companies on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

At this inaugural meeting, Mr. Kazuya Yamagishi, Representative Director and President of the Yamagishi Group, was invited as a special guest lecturer to give a lecture on improving profitability through the construction of in-house maintenance systems.

Background and Purpose of the Establishment of the 'Truck Maintenance Subcommittee'

In the current transportation industry, the shortage of truck drivers is not the only issue; the shortage of maintenance personnel, with a higher effective job-to-applicant ratio, is even more severe. Under the conventional approach of fully relying on dealers or external maintenance factories, the rise in repair costs and the prolongation of repair periods, leading to lower operating rates, have become major challenges for many transportation companies.

Against this background, the company decided to establish a specialized subcommittee focusing on 'Truck Maintenance' starting in July 2026. This research meeting aims not to manage truck maintenance merely as a cost but to redefine it as an important management foundation that supports safety, profitability, and human resources, thereby supporting the realization of 'Sustainable Growth Management' (sustainable growth management) for transportation companies.

Main Themes (Activities)

This research meeting will systematically organize practical know-how centered around the following four themes:

Vehicle Strategy for Performance Improvement: Cost optimization and improved safety, maximizing vehicle operating rates through repair cost reduction

Recruitment and Development of Maintenance Personnel: Support for the implementation of recruitment methods and the construction of systems for maintenance personnel who form the foundation of in-house maintenance
