The dystopian play 'Haimu Maimu,' which depicts a society where dreams are bought and sold, will be staged in June 2026 at Sasashima Studio in Nagoya. This marks the inaugural performance of Blanco Club, an theater organization led by puppet playwright Rui Nakamura, with music by Rubii Nakamura and performances by Yuji Kobayashi (Shonen Ohja Kan) and others.

The Character of a Playwright

Blanco Club, the organization behind this production, is a theater company led by playwright Rui Nakamura, who is described as a life form parasitic to Rubii Nakamura's right hand.

In an 'Ichigyo So Idol Society' (a society where everyone is an idol), the company aims to attract a different audience by positioning the playwright as content. It also possesses an 'anti-idol' aspect by not making the performer-audience interaction dependent on the performer.

This is Not a Story About the Future

Through its depiction of a society that manages and controls dreams as resources, 'Haimu Maimu' highlights the subtle infiltration of totalitarian values in contemporary times. The world depicted as dystopian is presented not as a distant future, but as something continuous with the present reality.

Music is provided by Rubii Nakamura, who has garnered cult support through various activities, including a solo debut produced by Susumu Hirasawa and appearances at FUJIROCK.

The cast includes Yuji Kobayashi from Shonen Ohja Kan, as well as Mitsugu Tanase, Kanako Taguchi, Toshiro Mine, and Ru Naatsuki, a rising young talent whose works have been screened on over 700 street screens across Belgium, drawing attention in the international NFT art scene. The cast comprises actors who traverse the theater scenes of Nagoya and Tokyo.

After-talk guests will include Norihiko Tsuda, winner of the Kishida Kunio Playwright Award and leader of Gekidan B-kyu Yugekitai, and Masakazu Kobayashi of Farm Kobayashi.
