The 'Summer Festival Chinese Afternoon Tea,' designed to add color to summer memories, makes its debut at 'Kakkeien' for July and August only.

The appetizer platter, served on a plate decorated with fireworks, features items that evoke the excitement of summer festivals, such as jellyfish in sweet vinegar, squid grilled with a savory soy glaze, and American-style hot dogs made with sausages.

At the center of a large bamboo steamer sits an adorable panda-shaped steamed bun wearing a twisted headband, welcoming guests alongside mooncakes shaped like candied apples, yakitori with a sweet-spicy glaze, and cotton candy.

Surrounding it are dim sum reminiscent of festival stalls, including spicy xiaolongbao with a peppery kick, steamed dumplings filled with seasonal vegetables and pork, shrimp dumplings shaped like goldfish, fried dumplings crafted to resemble takoyaki, potato-butter shumai, and cheese-filled grilled corn buns.

The dessert stand features a delightful array of sweets inspired by summer festival stalls: a refreshing cider jelly with cherries shaped like goldfish, a classic chocolate banana tart, mango tapioca, and deep-fried sweet potato buns. A jelly designed to resemble beer adds a playful touch, creating a whimsical tea time experience.

Enjoy this vibrant Chinese afternoon tea, complete with free-flow Chinese tea (six varieties), coffee, black tea, and three types of ramune (plain, melon, and strawberry), and fully immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of a summer festival.

This summer, enjoy the deep umami of Cantonese cuisine and the bold spiciness of Sichuan cuisine in one meal with the 'Two Capitals Gourmet Lunch & Dinner – A Banquet of Cantonese and Sichuan Cuisine.'

The course begins with an appetizer platter featuring tender 'Yodare Chicken,' and for dinner, a luxurious sour-spicy soup made with shark fin and king crab. This Sichuan specialty offers a complex interplay of sourness, spiciness, and the sharp kick of pepper. 'Angel Shrimp and Pork Spare Ribs with Spicy Powder' is a dish that showcases the charm of Cantonese cuisine, with its rich aroma and savory depth enhanced by a coating of garlic and chili-infused spicy powder.

For the main course, squid is stir-fried for lunch, while wagyu beef is used for dinner. XO sauce, originating from Canton, is served separately, allowing guests to customize their flavor or enjoy it as a snack with drinks. The iconic Sichuan dish 'Mapo Tofu' is served in a clay pot to ensure it is enjoyed piping hot. For the main dish, guests can choose between 'Five-Ingredient Cold Noodles,' refreshing even in hot weather, or 'Mala Tang,' a Sichuan specialty. The 'Mala Tang,' featuring Chinese noodles, stands out with its intense spiciness from chili oil and pepper.

For dessert, a delicate almond jelly with the juicy sweetness of white peaches provides a gentle finish, perfectly complementing the lingering heat of the spicy dishes. We invite you to savor the rich and diverse flavors woven by the culinary traditions of Canton and Sichuan.
