## Towards a Tomorrow Woven with Nature
### — Connecting the Future of Humans and Living Beings through the Power of Media. —

Our dream at the Biodiversity Media Organization ROOTs (Rooting Our Own Tomorrows) is to realize a society where humans and living beings weave diverse relationships and connect to tomorrow in harmony with nature.

Today, we may have more opportunities to learn about living beings through screen-based media like television and social media than through direct contact with them in nature.
Media has a great power to bring distant living beings in nature closer to us, move people's hearts, and foster a desire to "protect" them.
On the other hand, depending on how information is conveyed, it can also lead to misunderstandings about living beings or inappropriate interactions.

## Researching and Visualizing the Relationship between Media and Biodiversity

That is why ROOTs' mission is to research and visualize the relationship between media and biodiversity, and to support decision-making that connects to the future of humans and living beings by building a mechanism that links science and media.

Media is not merely a means of transmitting information; it is also a gateway through which we encounter living beings and nature.
The images and words conveyed through media can significantly change our impressions of living beings and nature, shape our perceptions, and influence our subsequent actions.

By grasping and visualizing the structure of this series of relationships between media and biodiversity, we will connect this understanding to the decision-making of media and public opinion, supporting better choices for the future of biodiversity.

## A Practical Platform to Shape Dreams
### Holding Dialogue Sessions with Media

While advancing its research, ROOTs is also promoting initiatives to connect knowledge to society by holding repeated dialogue sessions with media professionals.
As part of this, we will hold the following event on April 22, 2026.

At this event, based on the results of:
- A survey on "The Relationship between Exotic Pets and Media"
- A survey on "The Relationship between Researchers' Career Development and Media"
we will conduct practical discussions on how to connect this knowledge to media and implement it in society.

## Advisory Member Participation
### Towards a System Connecting Science and Practice

To connect practical media work with research, we have welcomed Mr. Hiroshi Takano as an advisory member.

Mr. Takano will provide multifaceted advice from a perspective that spans media, society, and research.
This event is also being jointly planned with him, and we will continue to promote initiatives that link science and media in a more effective manner.

## Sharing the Dream

ROOTs' vision cannot be realized by us alone.
It will only be achieved when media, researchers, corporations, and every individual in society re-examine their relationship with living beings, deepen their understanding, and change their decision-making.

On April 1st, a "day to speak of dreams," we articulate our will for that future.
