Raxus Inc. surveyed hiring managers at SMEs regarding the differences between hiring experienced professionals and young, inexperienced candidates. The survey revealed that 58.5% of companies expect experienced hires to be 'immediate contributors.' In contrast, expectations for young, inexperienced hires center on 'long-term retention' and 'bringing fresh perspectives to the organization.' Regarding post-hiring performance, 73.5% of companies rated experienced hires as meeting or exceeding expectations, compared to 71.0% for young, inexperienced hires, showing little difference. Regarding costs, 53.5% of companies reported that hiring experienced staff was more expensive, while 36.5% noted that young, inexperienced hires had higher retention rates. These results suggest that hiring young, inexperienced talent is an effective strategy for securing long-term human resources while controlling costs.
