Fireflies can be reliably observed every year within the grounds of Kyukamura Shonai Haguro.

On early summer nights, countless fireflies dance, emitting a magical glow.

Kyukamura Shonai Haguro (Location: 8 Hagurosan, Tōge, Haguro-machi, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture; Manager: Osamu Yoshino), a resort hotel located on the middle slopes of Mt. Haguro in Bandai-Asahi National Park, has been holding its "Firefly Viewing Event" as an exclusive experience program for overnight guests since June 28 (Sun).

Kyukamura Shonai Haguro, nestled beside Mt. Haguro which received three stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japon, is situated in an environment with few streetlights and houses, allowing the natural darkness to prevail at night. During early summer, you can enjoy the magical light of fireflies dancing over clear waters, and on nights with little moonlight, a sky full of stars.

We will guide you through a special night unique to this season, through these two scenes woven by nature.

◆ A Magical Night You Can Only Experience in an Environment with Little Artificial Light

Kyukamura Shonai Haguro, surrounded by lush forests, offers a quiet environment with little artificial light at night.

The surroundings of Kyukamura Shonai Haguro are characterized by a natural environment embraced by rich forests and clear streams. The waters are pristine enough to support firefly habitats, and from late June to late July each year, numerous fireflies fly about, emitting a magical glow.

Furthermore, due to the minimal artificial light, seasonal stars shine vividly in the night sky. In the silence of nature, you can enjoy a healing time unattainable in everyday life while gazing at the fireflies' light and the starry sky.
