Eikei University (President: Mutohiro Ariyuki, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City) Social Design Center held the 1st New Business Research Meeting on July 7, 2026 (Tue).
About the New Business Research Meeting
This meeting is aimed at regional core companies that are organizationally engaged in creating new businesses. By sharing organizational structures, various systems, execution processes, and evaluation criteria for promoting new businesses, and providing mutual feedback on specific themes, the meeting supports participating companies in organizing their own situations and concretizing their next steps.
Through this initiative, we aim to improve organizational capabilities for creating new businesses, promote sustainable value creation in Hiroshima, and contribute to the new growth of regional companies.
1st New Business Research Meeting
This was the first meeting, and we had the pleasure of having 12 participants from 10 companies.
Participating Companies
Mazda Corporation, Hirogin Holdings, Inc., Hiroshima Electric Railway Co., Ltd., Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc., Otafuku Sauce Co., Ltd., Hiroshima Home Television, Inc., Tokushoku Shoji Co., Ltd., JMS Co., Ltd., Izumi Co., Ltd., Hirotech Co., Ltd.
On the Day
After an explanation by Facilitator Assistant Professor Masaharu Okamura about the purpose of the meeting and how the full 6 meetings will proceed, participants introduced themselves.
In the subsequent workshop, participants individually worked on the theme "What is the purpose and role of new businesses in your company?" and "Why is this purpose and role required?" and then shared their thoughts in groups.
Next, under the themes "What goals and KPIs are set for new organizations?" and "What goals and KPIs are set for individual members of the organization?", participants engaged in active exchange of opinions through individual work and group sharing about the current situation and way of thinking of each company.
In the group work, lively discussions took place at each table, with participants nodding while listening to each other's talks and exchanging opinions while taking notes. Despite many first-time participants, the conversation naturally became more lively as the work progressed, and active interaction took place in a consistently pleasant atmosphere.
After sharing the worksheets created by each company in the venue, presentations were made to the entire group about insights gained from their own company's situation and examples from other companies. While the roles and evaluation indicators required for new businesses vary by company, it also became apparent that many companies face common challenges.
In addition, after the research meeting, participants actively exchanged information and business cards, creating new connections and learning opportunities. In the future, we will continue to promote the sharing of insights and network formation for creating new businesses through the research meeting, together with all participating companies.
The 2nd New Business Research Meeting, to be held next, is scheduled for August 4 (Tue). We will continue to advance practical discussions toward the creation of new businesses with all participating companies.
We look forward to inquiries from companies, media, and organizations interested in this research meeting.
