Proship Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Motofumi Suzuki) has launched a free 14-part online course series, "New Lease Accounting Standard Compliance | A Practical Program to Lighten the Load," in preparation for the new lease accounting standard's application from April 2027.

The third session will focus on the "operational hurdles" faced by companies that were early adopters of IFRS 16 (Leases).

This seminar, which explains the reality of unexpectedly increasing workloads and the practical functions that support the response, will be held online on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Background and Importance of the 3rd Session's Theme

While corporate preparations for the mandatory application of the new lease accounting standard from fiscal 2027 are steadily progressing, new challenges are emerging as the response phase advances. Particularly in the "operational phase" after policy formulation and system understanding, cases of facing unexpected workloads and complexity are not uncommon. In fact, many cases have been reported where even companies that were early adopters of IFRS 16 (Leases) experienced "workloads exceeding initial assumptions" after starting operations, struggling to cope on the ground. It has become clear that the burden of routine tasks such as contract information management, change handling, journal processing, and audit support is greater than imagined.

Based on this background, the third session will focus on the "reality of the operational phase" and delve into solving practical issues with an eye beyond mere standard compliance. We will explain a practical approach from the perspective of "how to make it work on the ground," not just responding to the standard.

Key Points of This Seminar

This seminar will organize the specific challenges faced in the field and their solutions, based on the reality of the operational phase in new lease accounting standard compliance.

- The reality of workloads occurring after operations start, as seen in cases of IFRS 16 (Leases) adopting companies - Organizing bottlenecks in field operations such as contract management, change handling, and journal processing - A mindset for building a sustainable operational system that reduces practical burdens - Key points for operational design that considers audit support

Furthermore, ProPlus has developed and improved numerous functions based on feedback from early users who wanted to "reduce the practical burden."

In this session, we will introduce the latest solutions that solve field issues based on that knowledge. We will deliver tips from a practical perspective to not only complete the standard compliance but also to achieve "smooth field operations" beyond that.
