This training aims to cultivate personnel who can accurately understand customer requests at the store, clearly explain the characteristics of fragrances, and propose the optimal fragrance, in addition to basic knowledge of scents.

Training to Foster Scent Professionals and Enhance Brand Experience

This training is an in-house program designed for the sales staff of "Flora Notis JILL STUART," a lifestyle proposal brand centered on fragrance, based on the knowledge of our proprietary "Aroma Design Certification." In this brand, where scent is a crucial element of the brand experience, the goal is for each person in customer service to be able to introduce and propose products to customers as a professional. Due to the high evaluation of last year's training and its practical application in sales, we were selected again this year. This third consecutive commission is a result of the high regard for our specialized knowledge of scents and the effectiveness of our educational programs.

While last year's training focused on acquiring basic knowledge of scents, this year's training emphasized progressing from the stage of "knowing" scents to the stage of being able to "explain and propose" them. This training aimed to deepen understanding of quality, grasp the characteristics of fragrance ingredients and the structure of fragrances, convey them clearly in customer interactions, and improve customer service skills to understand customer preferences and lifestyles and accurately propose suitable fragrances.

Strengthening Proposal Skills for Customer Service Through Lectures and Workshops to Verbalize Scents

In this training, we devised a unique chart to systematically organize the characteristics of fragrance ingredients, making it easier for participants to explain them in their own words, and conducted lectures based on this chart. While scents are often perceived intuitively, the ability to accurately convey their appeal and differences in words is required at the point of sale. Therefore, the program was designed so that participants could not only understand the characteristics of fragrance ingredients but also acquire the ability to express the impression and individuality of fragrances in their own words and use this in explanations and proposals to customers. To ensure knowledge retention and practical application, the training also included workshop-style programs. Participants considered and shared their own expressions of product scents, and through role-playing, they practiced the customer service process of understanding customer preferences and usage scenarios and proposing appropriate fragrances.

In recent years, with the expansion of the fragrance and aroma-related market, sales staff are required to have advanced communication skills to propose scents tailored to customer preferences and lifestyles, in addition to product knowledge. On the other hand, even companies handling scent products do not yet have many companies that provide systematic scent education for their sales staff. We believe that improving specialized knowledge not only in product development but also in sales environments is an important factor in enhancing brand value.

Future Outlook

Our company aims to realize a society where everyone who handles scents can utilize them "safely, correctly, and attractively." While the number of products and services utilizing scents is increasing, the development of human resources who can correctly understand and communicate them to customers is a challenge for the entire industry. Moving forward, we will strengthen our initiatives not only in scent research and development and product development support but also in the fields of education, training, and human resource development, contributing to the establishment of standards for human resource development in the scent industry.

Based on this initiative, we will also proceed with the development of our original "Aroma Design Certification Level 2" for a wider general audience. We will also expand our corporate training programs and strengthen our system to systematically support the development of human resources who handle scents.

The "Aroma Design Certification" is systematized based on our company's knowledge and experience in scents over the past 20 years, and aims to acquire and promote correct knowledge of aroma design technology. It enables individuals to learn the ability and technology to propose scents comprehensively, not just by diffusing pleasant scents in a space, but by perfuming scents for branding, promotion, entertainment, and efficacy according to customer needs, and even selecting the optimal diffuser.

The certification content begins with a lecture on the history of scents by our experienced in-house perfumers, followed by learning a wide range of knowledge about scents, from ingredients and types to effects and aroma design, and then a perfuming experience.
