Pride House Tokyo, a non-profit organization, has conducted a 'Learning and Practice Joint Project' with its 2025 fiscal year corporate sponsors. The venue was provided by Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP), one of the sponsoring companies. The 2025 project focused on the theme of 'Increasing Active Allies,' emphasizing not just understanding LGBTQ+ policies as knowledge, but translating them into concrete actions in the workplace. The core theme was the development of 'Active Bystanders'—individuals who appropriately intervene as third parties when witnessing inappropriate behavior (microaggressions) to protect a safe and secure environment. An LGBTQ+ ally is defined as someone who understands and respects the diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity and seeks to support those individuals. This program was co-developed through 'pro bono' collaboration, where volunteers from participating companies shared their internal expertise. Key sessions included sharing knowledge on ERG (Employee Resource Group) activities and a talk session focusing on the struggles and passions of those implementing these initiatives internally. In the practical workshop, participants learned how to address 'unconscious microaggressions' through role-playing. The '5D' active bystander approach was organized into the Japanese mnemonic 'So-Ba-Ni-I-Te' (Stay by their side). Participants defined these actions for their own workplace contexts. The workshop emphasized psychological safety, and participants made declarations such as 'I will start by not laughing along with inappropriate comments' and 'I want to bring these workshops back to my own company.' Representative Director Yuri Igarashi stated, 'We prioritized turning knowledge into action. We believe that acknowledging our own unconscious biases and continuing to learn is essential for creating a truly safe workplace.'
