Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (hereinafter "Shikoku Electric Power") and Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Imabari Shipbuilding") have been proceeding with construction to install stationary battery storage systems manufactured by PowerX, Inc. (hereinafter "PowerX"), a company in which both firms have invested, at the Imabari Shipbuilding Saijo Shipyard Higashi-Hiuchi Division. This is to implement an "on-site battery storage project" (as announced on September 1, 2025), and we are pleased to announce that operations have commenced today.

Amid the growing adoption of renewable energy, which is characterized by significant output fluctuations, this project aims to stabilize power supply and demand and maximize the utilization of renewable energy by optimally controlling the charging and discharging of the batteries. Furthermore, by effectively utilizing the stored electricity to suppress the factory's peak power demand, we will also work toward reducing electricity costs.

Moving forward, the three companies will continue to collaborate closely to further utilize the battery storage systems, establish expertise regarding the "on-site battery storage project," and contribute to the stabilization of power supply and demand and the realization of a decarbonized society by horizontally deploying the knowledge gained through this project to other locations.
