Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (hereinafter "Shikoku Electric") and Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Imabari Shipbuilding") have been proceeding with installation work on the premises of the Imabari Shipbuilding Saijo Shipyard Higashi-Hiuchi Division (as announced on September 1, 2025) to implement an "On-site Battery Storage Business" using stationary energy storage systems manufactured by PowerX, Inc. (hereinafter "PowerX"), a company in which both companies have invested. We are pleased to announce that operations commenced today.

As the adoption of renewable energy with large output fluctuations progresses, this business aims to stabilize power supply and demand and maximize the utilization of renewable energy by optimally controlling the charging and discharging of storage batteries. In addition, by effectively utilizing the stored electricity to suppress the factory's maximum power demand (peak shaving), it will also lead to a reduction in electricity bills.

Moving forward, the three companies will continue to work closely together to further effectively utilize battery storage systems, aiming to establish know-how related to the "On-site Battery Storage Business." By horizontally deploying the knowledge gained through this business to other locations, we will contribute to the stabilization of power supply and demand and the realization of a decarbonized society.
