Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (hereinafter, Shikoku Electric Power) and Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, Imabari Shipbuilding) announce that their "on-site battery storage project" utilizing stationary battery systems manufactured by PowerX Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, PowerX), a company in which both companies have a common investment, has commenced operation today, following the progress of installation work within the premises of Imabari Shipbuilding's Saijo Factory Higashi Hiuchi Division (as announced on September 1, 2025).

This project aims to stabilize electricity supply and demand and maximize the utilization of renewable energy by optimally controlling the charging and discharging of storage batteries amidst the widespread adoption of renewable energy with significant output fluctuations. Furthermore, by effectively utilizing stored electricity and suppressing the factory's maximum demand power (peak), it will contribute to reducing electricity costs.

Moving forward, the three companies will continue to collaborate closely for the further effective utilization of battery systems, establish expertise related to the "on-site battery storage project," and contribute to the stabilization of electricity supply and demand and the realization of a decarbonized society by horizontally deploying the knowledge gained through this project to other locations.
