AMATORA SPA, based in Kyoto and proposing "hair wellness", will launch a unique Japanese head spa experience inspired by Ayurveda in April 2026, at the tranquil space "Chasho Kanza" (かんざ) located within the grounds of Kyoto's Imakumano Kannonji Temple.
Imakumano Kannonji Temple has long been revered as the "Kannon of the Head." The serene space within its grounds will be exclusively reserved for our guests. You will experience a head spa performed by a nationally certified beautician.
Surrounded by Kyoto's nature, we will harmonize your mind and body with herbal extracts blended with aromas tailored to your dosha, hair oil, and massage, leaving your hair smooth, glossy, and radiant. After the treatment, you will have time to enjoy matcha and Japanese sweets.
This is a supreme ritual that satisfies the five senses and awakens inner radiance.
Testimonials
"The same scenery looks different."
During the treatment, an eye mask is applied, and the focus is on the head, neck, and shoulders in a quiet environment surrounded by the sounds of birds and rustling trees. After the treatment, guests report that the natural scenery viewed from Kanza after opening their eyes appears different from before the experience.
In recent years, global interest in wellness tourism has been growing, with experiential travel focused on harmonizing mind and body gaining attention.
Kyoto, in particular, is highly regarded internationally for its Zen and temple culture, and its aesthetic of living in harmony with nature. Increasingly, there is a demand for experiences that allow introspection in silence.
AMATORA SPA has previously offered Ayurvedic head spa experiences utilizing Japanese beauty techniques at its salon in Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. To further enhance this as a uniquely Japanese experience and provide time for mind-body harmonization in an environment characteristic of the ancient capital, Kyoto, we are launching this new experience at "Chasho Kanza," a tranquil space within the grounds of Imakumano Kannonji Temple.
