PoliPoli Inc. (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Kazuma Ito) announces that it has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) for cooperation in citizen-participatory policy co-creation in the environmental field with Parongpong Recycle And Waste Lab (hereinafter referred to as Parongpong RAW Lab), a research and consulting company in the circular economy domain headquartered in Bandung, Indonesia, and has commenced business collaboration.
Based on this collaboration, we will expand opportunities for dialogue and knowledge sharing on environmental themes such as the circular economy, marine and coastal waste, and ghost nets among citizens, local governments, corporations, and educational institutions in Japan and the ASEAN region.
Background of Collaboration In recent years, the importance of resource reuse, including marine and coastal waste and plastics, and addressing environmental challenges has been increasing for administrative bodies such as local governments. These issues cannot be solved by administrative bodies alone; the participation of diverse stakeholders including citizens, corporations, educational institutions, and NGOs, along with the accumulation of knowledge through on-site implementation, is indispensable.
PoliPoli has been working on collecting and analyzing citizen opinions and visualizing the policy reflection process through its website for conveying voices to government, 'PoliPoli Gov,' and its donation fund, 'Policy Fund.'
On the other hand, Parongpong RAW Lab has been advancing the social implementation of the circular economy in Indonesia through its unique initiatives to regenerate difficult-to-recycle waste into building materials and through resource recovery models in collaboration with local communities.
This collaboration aims to broaden the possibilities for public-private co-creation to solve environmental issues in Japan, Indonesia, and the ASEAN region by combining PoliPoli's expertise in policy co-creation and GovTech with Parongpong RAW Lab's implementation knowledge.
Roles of Both Companies
PoliPoli Inc. Policy co-creation, GovTech, collection of citizen opinions, AI-driven policy analysis, coordination with Japanese local governments and public sectors, etc.
Parongpong RAW Lab Circular economy, resource recovery, recycling and upcycling of difficult-to-recycle materials, technical support and knowledge sharing related to community-led social implementation, etc.
Future Outlook Through this collaboration, PoliPoli will expand opportunities for dialogue with local governments, communities, corporations, educational institutions, NGOs, and others in Japan and the ASEAN region. Furthermore, we will explore possibilities for initiatives based on the actual conditions on the ground and the voices of diverse stakeholders in various fields, not limited to the environment, in collaboration with various partners, and seek ways to solve social issues through public-private co-creation.
