Pendemy Inc. (Headquarters: Fuchu, Tokyo; CEO: Hayato Kimura), which plans and develops STEAM education that fuses cutting-edge digital technology and manufacturing, held a hands-on event for elementary school students, "Minecraft Adventure with LEGO Programming!" for two days on Saturday, April 4, and Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Mitten Fuchu 9F event space.

The two days were filled with the smiles and enthusiasm of many children and their parents.

Fostering Programming Thinking in the World of "Minecraft"

This event is a special 30-minute workshop where children recreate the world of the hugely popular game Minecraft with LEGO® blocks and aim to get treasure by moving a robot with a program they assembled themselves. The participating children thought about "How can the robot reach its destination?" and used an iPad to intuitively assemble commands (a program). When it didn't move as expected, they found the mistake themselves and corrected it. Through this "trial and error" process, we provided an experience that naturally fosters logical thinking (programming thinking) as an extension of play.

In Response to Cries of "I want to do more!". Information on Robot Programming Classes (Free Trial)

After the event, many of the children who successfully cleared the mission and got the treasure enthusiastically said things like, "I want to try a more difficult course!" and "I want to build a robot myself!"

At the "Digital Academy Pendemy Robot Programming Class" operated by Pendemy in Fuchu, Tokyo, we go beyond one-off experiences like the event and foster deeper, essential thinking and expression skills by repeating the process of "ideation, design, implementation, and presentation." We are currently accepting applications for a "free trial class" for the new school term. We will connect the "interest in programming" sparked at the event to lifelong "thinking skills."
