GAKUSOYA, a brand utilizing picture frame scraps, will hold its first exhibition in Nakameguro.
Haranoie Co., Ltd., which operates GAKUSOYA—a brand that produces and sells one-of-a-kind mini frames made from picture frame scraps—will hold its first group exhibition, "Framing Your Essence: Opening Up Artists' Worlds Through Mini Frames," from April 1 (Wed) to April 5 (Sun), 2026, at the gallery space "Space Utility TOKYO (SUT)" in Nakameguro, Tokyo. This exhibition will showcase and sell works by multiple artists in their "finished form," framed in mini frames. In addition to selling individual artworks and frames, consultations for custom framing will also be available.
Background
GAKUSOYA utilizes "scraps" generated during the picture frame production process to create unique, one-of-a-kind mini frames. Rather than mass production, we propose framing that embraces the individuality of the materials while resonating with the artwork and the owner's sensibilities. This exhibition combines artistic expression with framing to offer an experience where art can be taken home and integrated into daily life. Space Utility TOKYO (SUT) in Nakameguro is a space housed in a 100-year-old traditional row house, serving as a natural gathering place for zines, risographs, and individual creative activities. We decided to hold the event at SUT as a place where one-of-a-kind frames and the unique personalities of various artists can intersect.
