Otsuka Pharmaceutical Certified as Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' "Excellent Food Education Corporation 2026"

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Makoto Inoue; hereinafter "Otsuka Pharmaceutical") has been certified as an "Excellent Food Education Corporation 2026" by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, a newly established recognition. This certification acknowledges Otsuka Pharmaceutical's initiatives in food education and health promotion for its employees, leveraging its internal expertise and the nutritional monitoring service "Vivoo*".

In recent years, as disordered eating habits among adults have become apparent, there is a growing need to promote "adult food education," particularly for young people who will lead the future society. To achieve a healthy diet, it is crucial to promote food education in the workplace. For this reason, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries launched the "Excellent Food Education Corporation Commendation System" with the aim of enhancing vitality within corporations and disseminating excellent initiatives. An "Excellent Food Education Corporation" is certified for implementing initiatives that contribute to improving the dietary habits of its employees.

Based on the belief that it is important for each employee to work healthily and vibrantly, our company conducts various activities such as providing health seminars and exercise programs to help employees understand their health and actively engage in disease prevention, health maintenance, and promotion. This time, the following initiatives related to "health promotion through food" were recognized, leading to our certification as an "Excellent Food Education Corporation 2026".

Improving Eating Habits Starting with Visualization

Our company had previously implemented initiatives to improve employees' eating habits through nutrition seminars by experts, but there was a challenge that information dissemination alone did not easily lead to behavioral change. Therefore, we created an eating habit improvement program utilizing "Vivoo," our nutritional monitoring service. Through checking measurement results at the beginning and end, and providing nutrition seminars, dietary improvement advice, and health information during the implementation period, it led to behavioral changes and increased awareness regarding eating habits.

In our employee cafeteria, employees working as registered dietitians devise healthy menus and display calorie and nutritional information. Furthermore, through initiatives such as donations to developing countries via TABLE FOR TWO eligible menus, and the use of local ingredients and tomatoes cultivated by employees of our special subsidiary "Heartful Kawauchi," we are contributing to improving employees' health awareness and promoting the active participation of diverse employees through food.

* "Vivoo" is a nutritional monitoring service that allows users to instantly measure their nutritional status by reading a urine-soaked strip (test paper) with a dedicated app. Based on the measurement results, it provides dietary and lifestyle advice supervised by registered dietitians to support healthy lifestyle habits.
