Otemon Gakuin University (Ibaraki City, Osaka; President: Masahiro Shindo) celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026. To mark the occasion, the university has launched a special website and placed commemorative advertisements in the national morning edition of the Yomiuri Shimbun. As part of the 60th-anniversary commemorative projects, a symposium will be held on September 9, 2026. This event will reflect on the university's journey since its founding in 1966, growing into a comprehensive institution with 9 faculties and 3 graduate schools and 10,000 students, while sharing future initiatives. Otemon Gakuin University was founded in 1966 with the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Letters. Since then, it has expanded its faculties and graduate schools to meet social changes and educational needs. By 2026, it has developed into a comprehensive university with 9 faculties, including the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and 3 graduate schools. The symposium theme is "Learning Co-created with AI at Otemon Gakuin University's 60th Year." It will feature keynote speeches on the AI era and new educational policies, building on the university's transition from a humanities-focused institution to an interdisciplinary one. Campus tours of the new school buildings and networking events are also planned. Furthermore, in collaboration with the alumni association Shogunzan-kai, the university placed commemorative ads on May 29 and launched a special 60th-anniversary website. The university continues to promote educational DX, including the "OIDAI+" AI advisor, and aims to enhance its educational and research activities as a comprehensive university.
