The showroom features fine woods from around the world, including Bubinga, Keyaki (Japanese Zelkova), and Tagayasan (Siamese Cassia).
Not a place to choose furniture, but a place to choose the "materials" that create an architectural space.
"rewood Kagoshima," a reclaimed single-slab brand operated by Only One Co., Ltd., has launched an "Unmanned Single-Slab Showroom" at the Only One Yojiro store in Kagoshima City, catering to architects and customers planning their homes.
In this showroom, visitors can freely browse a diverse collection of single-slab wood pieces gathered from across the country.
A single-slab piece that was once a traditional Japanese low table.
A showroom where architects can select materials with their clients
During home design consultations, the question of "what kind of table would suit this space?" is common.
The rewood showroom serves as a space where architects can bring their clients to select materials together.
Whether for dining tables, counters, desks, or store fixtures, you can choose the centerpiece of an architectural space starting from the "material" itself: the single-slab wood.
Even within the same species, each piece has a unique expression.
A 'Material Warehouse' gathered from across the country
rewood is a project that rescues single-slab wood pieces that have finished their original roles, regenerating them into new furniture.
We are re-curating timber resources found throughout Japan, including boards once used as low tables, wood lying dormant in old folk houses, and unused materials left in furniture stores.
By leveraging the unique character and history of the wood, we regenerate them into furniture to be passed on to the next generation. Currently, a network of approximately 1,700 single-slab pieces has been accumulated.
At the Kagoshima showroom, you can see and touch a selection of these pieces in person.
