ONESTRUCTION Inc. (Headquarters: Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture; CEO: Daiho Nishioka), which develops construction sector solutions centered on openBIM with the mission of 'bridging construction and technology,' signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, with the Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG), which developed India's Urban Data Exchange (IUDX), and DataKaveri Systems Pvt Limited (DataKaveri), which operates IUDX. The purpose of this MOU is to build a framework for strategic and technical collaboration in the field of urban and built environment data exchange. This MOU was signed at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) during the 1st Japan-India AI Strategic Dialogue, in the presence of representatives from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Background of the MOU
Data related to construction and infrastructure is globally among the most delayed in digitization and most fragmented within the urban environment. While data interoperability within the lifecycle of construction projects has improved due to the advancement of openBIM standards represented by IFC (Industry Foundation Classes), the foundation to comprehensively manage, distribute, and utilize this data at the city or national level is still insufficiently developed. As a result, much critical data, such as floor plans, equipment layouts, and asset history, is either lost or rendered inaccessible after project completion.
For 7 hours and 30 minutes from 1:30 PM (10:00 AM local time) on April 22, as part of the Japan-India AI Strategic Dialogue, a networking session with AI-related companies from Japan and India was held in Bengaluru, India. Participating companies from Japan (in alphabetical order): Aeterlink, Edgecortix, Fujitsu Research of India Private Limited, Highreso, I'mbesideyou, ONESTRUCTION, TIER IV, etc. Participating companies from India: BharatGen, Sarvam (developers of domestic Large Language Models), etc. (Cited from MOFA)
At this networking event, companies from both Japan and India introduced LLM development utilizing AI technology, solutions to social issues, and business use cases. Following this, both sides deepened constructive discussions on the possibilities for specific and practical future collaboration.
On this occasion, ONESTRUCTION, which provides construction data and AI solutions, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with DataKaveri Systems, which operates the Urban Data Exchange (IUDX), and the Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG, originating from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc)).
