Sogo Omi Beef Trading Company (Headquarters: Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture / CEO: Tatsuhiro Nishino) announces the grand opening of a new 'Yakiniku Sudaku' brand store in Penang, Malaysia, on May 15, 2026, in partnership with the local Malaysian corporation 'TAIRYO SDN. BHD.'

This opening is part of our overseas expansion following Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and China, further accelerating our efforts to share the appeal of Japanese Black Wagyu with the world. Furthermore, on the day of the grand opening, we held a Wagyu cutting show as a project to deeply experience the charm of Wagyu.

Wagyu Cutting Show Held at the Opening Event

At the opening event, we conducted a 'Wagyu Cutting Show' to allow guests to experience Japanese-style Wagyu culture and meat processing techniques.

In charge was Masataka Takana (24) from Ishigaki Island. After graduating at the top of his class from the National Meat School, he joined NIKUJILLE Inc. Currently, he is working to pass down Wagyu cutting techniques worldwide in collaboration with Sogo Omi Beef Trading Company.

It became an event where guests could experience Japanese meat culture itself while being introduced to the characteristics of different cuts and cutting techniques.

Background of the Store Opening

Malaysia is one of the continuously growing markets in Southeast Asia, and with the expansion of middle and upper-income groups, the demand for high-quality dining and Japanese food is increasing year by year.

Penang, in particular, is an area that gathers many foreign tourists and wealthy individuals as a global tourist city, and is known as a region with a food culture where multiple cultures blend.
