◆Overview
A results presentation session for the "CFP (Carbon Footprint) Intensive Lecture," in which National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, President: Yasuyuki Hibino) participated, was held on March 17, 2026, at the Hirogin Holdings headquarters building, where university faculty and staff provided advice.
This presentation session was held as the culmination of a program implemented by Chugoku Financial Group, Inc. and Hirogin Holdings, Inc. with the aim of fostering human resources to lead decarbonization in the Sanyo region. Employees from both banks presented their CFP calculations and branding proposals developed to date.
Chugoku Bank reported on specific calculation examples for local beer, while Hiroshima Bank reported on Japanese sake. At the venue, lively discussions took place regarding the visualization of emissions throughout the product lifecycle and the creation of new value utilizing this information.
Associate Professor Tatsumasa Tennojidani from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Deputy Director Takahiro Funakura from the Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Headquarters, Research and Innovation Co-creation Organization, participated from Okayama University, which served as an advisor for the program, and summarized the initiatives of each bank from an academic perspective. Mr. Toshifumi Nakai from the Sustainable Management Promotion Organization (SuMPO) also took the stage and re-emphasized the importance of the role that regional financial institutions should play in supporting decarbonization management.
This session, attended by many stakeholders including executive officers from both banks, marked the culmination of practical learning that began in November 2025 and was an important milestone demonstrating the emergence of human resources equipped with practical skills in calculation support within the region. Okayama University will continue to deepen its collaboration with financial institutions and regional companies, contributing to region-wide sustainability promotion by leveraging its academic knowledge.
