Professor Eiji Isono, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, to Give Lecture at the 4th Multicultural Understanding Discovery Course Hosted by Nisshin City International Exchange Association

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, a lecture by Professor Eiji Isono, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies at Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, will be held at the 4th Multicultural Understanding Discovery Course hosted by the Nisshin City International Exchange Association. This course is aimed at those interested in communication and exchange with foreigners, and will explain differences in language, culture, and customs when communicating in Japanese with foreigners living in Japan. This year's course is an applied version of the 3rd Multicultural Understanding Discovery: "It's Mysterious! Japanese Language & Culture Seen by Foreigners [Practical Edition]" held in July of the previous year. Participants will learn, through group work, what is necessary for foreign residents, international students, and Japanese people to live together in the same community. This is a very popular course that typically receives more applications and participants than its capacity of 50. Anyone can participate for free. Professor Eiji Isono completed his doctoral program at the Graduate School of Humanities, Tokyo Metropolitan University in 2013, earning a Ph.D. in Japanese Language Education. He has worked at the Department of Japanese Language and Literature at Chung-Ang University (Seoul, South Korea) and the International Education and Exchange Center at Osaka University before joining Nagoya University of Commerce and Business in 2016. He consistently engages in the practice of Japanese language education, teacher training, and research on Japanese language pedagogy both in Japan and abroad.
