Demonstration of Technology to Stabilize Video Quality by Reducing Delay Jitter in Wireless Sections via Remote Drone Operation

NTT, NTT-ME, and NTT e-Drone Technology have developed a technology that reduces delay jitter in wireless communication, stabilizing video quality for remote drone operators. In a demonstration, they successfully established a remote drone operation environment over a 60km distance using Local 5G and FLET'S VPN. By implementing optical-wireless coordinated control, the technology reduced video disruption time from 12% to 5%. This allowed remote operators to complete movement tasks in an average of 32 seconds without interruption, comparable to the 35 seconds required for on-site visual operation. This innovation enables precise and safe remote inspections in hazardous areas without dispatching personnel, offering a solution to ongoing labor shortages.
