Niigata International Automotive College (hereinafter 'the College', located in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture), a vocational school of the NSG Group, announces that its current students and alumni participated in the 'Motegi Champion Cup Race Round 1' held at Mobility Resort Motegi (Tochigi Prefecture) on March 14 (Sat) and 15 (Sun), 2026, and successfully reached the podium.

In this tournament, alumnus Hayato Iwagami (Albirex Fuji Ginkei GIA/ED) achieved a spectacular victory in the FJ1500 class finals after qualifying in 3rd place. Additionally, in the Super FJ class, alumnus Retsuya Okawa (B-Auto & TAKE FIRST) placed 1st in qualifying and 2nd in the finals, while current 2nd-year student Ruka Kobayashi (Albi Niigata Daiichi Hotel GIA ED) from the Motorsports 2nd Grade Mechanic Department placed 6th in qualifying and 3rd in the finals. These top finishes demonstrate the strong presence of individuals associated with the College across multiple classes.

The College focuses not only on automotive technology but also on practical education in the motorsports field. It thoroughly teaches fundamental driving techniques such as 'running, stopping, and turning', which are essential for circuit driving. Furthermore, it provides opportunities for student-led teams to participate in official races while still enrolled, aiming to improve technical capabilities and decision-making skills through practical experience.

These results demonstrate that the experience gained in such a practical educational environment translates directly into their success after graduation. The College will continue to strengthen its provision of practical education and field experience, aiming to nurture professionals capable of excelling in the motorsports industry.

■ Comments from Hayato Iwagami, Winner of the FJ1500 Class
It was a very challenging situation as it was my first time driving this machine, and the first day of the race week was my very first run in it. Being able to win under these circumstances was entirely thanks to the support of everyone at the Albirex Racing Team and the stakeholders who provided the vehicle.

Moving forward, my goal is to compete on the world stage, such as in Super GT, Super Formula, and even WEC and GT World Challenge. Utilizing what I learned at GIA, I will continue to work as hard as I can.
