Our university promotes 'High School-University-Medical Collaboration,' providing opportunities for students to think more deeply about their future career paths. This includes outreach lectures and vocational experiences to deepen their understanding of their target professions, as well as hospital tours to see actual medical frontlines. As part of these efforts, we held this 'Team Medical Experience Event' for students to learn about the collaboration and teamwork required in health, medical, welfare, and sports settings.

In the morning, high school students were divided by their desired qualifications/professions. They received lectures from our faculty on the roles and appeal of various professions such as nurses, physical therapists, and registered dietitians, deepening their understanding through related hands-on experiences. They also learned how each profession collaborates and contributes within team medicine.

In the afternoon, utilizing the knowledge gained in the morning, they challenged themselves with group work themed around interprofessional collaboration. Discussing presented medical cases, they debated what kind of treatment and support could be provided from the perspective of each profession, and presented their findings by group. Participants experienced the difficulties and fascination of collaborating with other professions, further deepening their understanding of 'team medicine.'

Hosting such an experience event is unique to our university, one of Japan's largest comprehensive medical universities where 6 faculties and 16 departments gather on a single campus, providing an environment for practical learning of 'team medicine.' We will continue to support high school students in their career choices by promoting high school-university-medical collaboration.
