The work by Kiiko Mori, which won the Shincho Bunko nex Award at the Creative Award 2024, one of Japan's largest creative contests, is being published as a book. 'Chido,' which includes an entirely new chapter and significant revisions to the winning entry, will be released by Shinchosha on Thursday, May 28, 2026. One summer day, a college student named Niinae suddenly disappeared. Her lover, Hikari, seeks help from Kanako, who can 'see' supernatural phenomena, fearing it might be a 'curse of my family.' However, what Kanako sees is a 'Chido' (bloody path) binding far beyond imagination. Why did Niinae disappear? And what is the true nature of the curse plaguing the Oyama family? It is a chilling horror novel revolving around ancient customs. The work has also been slated for a manga adaptation by artist Akihi Enaka, scheduled to begin serialization in 2027.
