Nippon Chikudenchi Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Shuichi Urushihara) is pleased to announce that the grid-scale battery storage facility 'NC Masuda-shi Higashicho Storage Station,' constructed in Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture, began receiving power on March 19, 2026.
This facility is positioned as a regionally distributed energy hub that absorbs and levels out the output fluctuations of renewable energy, supporting the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX) wholesale market, the supply-demand adjustment market, and the capacity market. Furthermore, it functions as a disaster prevention base to support regional power supply during emergencies, contributing to the enhancement of local resilience.
[Facility Overview] - Facility Name: NC Masuda-shi Higashicho Storage Station - Location: Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture - Rated Output / Capacity: 1,988 kW / 8,146 kWh - Battery System: TMEIC (Battery cells: CATL) - Operation Start Date: March 19, 2026 - Design and Construction: Kando Co., Ltd.
With the expansion of renewable energy, balancing power supply and demand has become a critical challenge. Storage batteries play a central role in absorbing fluctuations and supporting stable grid operation. This project utilizes a battery system by CATL and a Power Conditioning System (PCS) by TMEIC. This high-reliability configuration enables stable operations across multiple power markets.
Construction was handled by Kando Co., Ltd., with a design focus on local environmental conservation and safety.
[Future Outlook] Nippon Chikudenchi will continue to promote grid-scale storage projects across Japan, strengthening collaborations with local communities and municipalities to realize a decarbonized society and improve disaster response capabilities.
