The student intern team at education startup NIJIN Inc. (Operation: NIJIN Inc., Headquarters: Koto Ward, Tokyo, Representative Director: Tatsuro Hoshino) has passed the screening for Startup Internship Festival 2026 (SIF2026) and will exhibit and give a pitch presentation at Tokyo Innovation Base on August 2, 2026 (Sun) from 13:00 to 18:00!

The interns driving this initiative are students who genuinely want to change global education, students who want to transform their personal experiences with "minority" situations like school refusal and correspondence courses into a force for making others happy, and they are seeking like-minded individuals to help change education.

Background of the Exhibit

The educational landscape is undergoing significant change. The number of students absent from school for extended periods continues to break records, and enrollment in correspondence high schools is increasing. Furthermore, since absence is only officially classified as school refusal after 30 or more days of absence, it is said that many more children struggle with school and feel unhappy, a situation not reflected in these numbers. While diverse learning options are needed, society's view that choosing school refusal or correspondence courses is "not normal" still persists.

Amidst this situation, NIJIN established "NIJIN Academy," a K-9 integrated alternative school, with the slogan "Turning school refusal into hope." Entering its third year in September 2026, the school has surpassed a total of 900 enrolled students.

In addition, NIJIN has launched various initiatives, including "NIJIN High School Support," a correspondence support school that turns correspondence education into a hopeful option; "Jugyo Terasu," a teacher platform where over 1,000 teachers have learned; and "After-School Project School," where children, whether they are experiencing school refusal or not, can engage in learning that connects them to society in ways not possible at traditional schools.

However, at the heart of this current endeavor are three interns who have taken on the current educational challenges as their own, transforming their past experiences into the power to change education.

From Entry to Presentation: Behind the Scenes of the Project Created by Interns

The three interns who entered the TIB Internship Festival 2026 have past experiences of school refusal, graduation from correspondence high school, feeling a lack of belonging, or not being able to express their true selves. Nevertheless, they made the decision to "change the system rather than blame people" and are gathering like-minded individuals to build the future of education.

At the TIB Startup Internship Festival 2026, NIJIN's student interns will be responsible for the entire process from planning and preparation to operation, including exhibiting and delivering an appeal pitch.

- Entry

- Preparation of job descriptions and application materials

- Creation of project proposals and budget formulation

- Distribution of press releases

- Creation of pitch materials and presentation

- Booth setup

- Production of posters, pamphlets, logo boards, and novelty items

All of these tasks were accomplished solely by the students.

This exhibit symbolizes NIJIN's internship program in that it is:

"A project that student interns conceived, decided upon, and brought to fruition themselves."

"A challenge that maximizes the company's discretion."

"An environment where students who want to change education by turning their past experiences into 'strength' can thrive."

Outlook for SIF2026

On the day of SIF2026, we interns will be waiting at our booth.

- Those who are serious about changing the future of education.

- Those who want to experience something beyond the norm, not just planning within a school, but creating a school.

- Those who want to leverage their experiences of "having experienced school refusal" or "having been a minority" to "support those who are currently facing similar challenges."

Please feel free to approach us.
