[June 27] Correspondence High School x Truant Elementary/Junior High Students 'Sports Festival' to be Held

NIJIN Co., Ltd. (Koto-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Tatsuro Hoshino), which operates the correspondence support school 'NIJIN High School' and the alternative school for truant students 'NIJIN Academy,' will hold the 'Niji-Ko x Niji-Aka Sports Festival 2026' on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12:00 to 15:00 at Miraikan Taimei (Toshima-ku, Tokyo). This event is a sports event where children who learn from all over the country in the metaverse space gather in reality to enjoy interaction and challenges. The students themselves are involved in the planning and operation, and the preparations are being led by the children. According to a survey by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in fiscal 2024, the number of truant elementary and junior high school students reached a record high of 353,970, increasing for 12 consecutive years. Now, how to support 'children who choose a way of learning that suits them' rather than 'children who cannot go to school' is a challenge for society as a whole. This sports festival started from the voices of high school students attending NIJIN High School, saying, 'I want to gather with everyone in reality, not just online,' and 'I want to create a place where we can become closer through sports.' On the day, in addition to a song and dance stage at the opening, serious relays and recreational competitions that are easy for children who are not good at sports to participate in are planned.
