Founded in 1968 as an informal academic group called the Artificial Dialysis Research Society, the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy aims to advance academic research on blood purification therapies, particularly dialysis treatment. The annual academic meeting brings together numerous professionals, researchers, and industry representatives involved in dialysis care to exchange opinions and discussions. It also serves as a platform to gather the latest information and knowledge on dialysis medicine. This year’s meeting is themed 'EMPOWER THE PEOPLE. Energizing Renal Replacement Therapy.' Since 2005, our company has participated in this society to promote awareness of Electrolyzed Water Dialysis® as a novel dialysis therapy.

What is Electrolyzed Water Dialysis®?

Hemodialysis, used to treat patients with renal failure, is a water-intensive therapy, consuming approximately 120 liters of water per session. In 1997, through joint research with Kyushu University, our company was the first in the world to discover the antioxidant properties of 'electrolyzed reduced water (Sui-sui)' and conceived the idea of applying it to hemodialysis, initiating the development of 'Electrolyzed Water Dialysis®'. Through collaborative industry-academia research with institutions such as Tohoku University starting in 2005, we identified that hydrogen molecules (H2) act as key factors in Electrolyzed Water Dialysis®, exerting antioxidant effects and enhancing biocompatibility. Subsequently, while collecting clinical data, we developed dialysis systems (patented domestically and internationally). In 2011, we launched the 'Electrolyzed Water Dialysis® System', and in 2020, we released the standardized 'Electrolyzed Water Dialysis Water Production Unit'. As of the end of May 2026, the system has been introduced in 37 facilities in Japan, with a total of 1,127 beds offering Electrolyzed Water Dialysis®.
