Next Innovation Inc. (Nekuino Inc.; headquartered in Kita-ku, Osaka; CEO: Kenichi Ishii) announced that “1minute,1napkin,” a project operated by “toreluna,” a service that stocks and provides sanitary pads free of charge in private toilet stalls, has provided sanitary pads to Seijo Gakuen Junior and Senior High School in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. The project is being promoted through a partnership between the company and JOICFP, an international cooperation NGO. It aims to install menstrual products in educational settings and promote understanding of menstruation, one of women’s health issues, as well as SRHR, sexual and reproductive health and rights. The company will continue expanding collaboration with schools, municipalities, companies, and related organizations, while working to create an environment where the permanent installation and operation of menstrual products can take root. Students at Seijo Gakuen Junior and Senior High School commented that the initiative created an opportunity for both students and teachers to deepen their understanding of menstruation, and that they hope to continue improving the school environment so girls can feel more secure. Students also said sanitary pads are essential for monthly periods, and being able to access them at any time is a great relief. They noted that easy access to pads when needed can help students feel more at ease in school life, and expressed hope that the “1minute,1napkin” project will help people of all genders deepen their understanding of menstruation and spend time more comfortably. In addition to providing pads inside private toilet stalls, “1minute,1napkin” donates one sanitary pad to places in need for every one minute of advertising shown at toreluna locations nationwide. The initiative connects advertising on toreluna digital signage with the resolution of social issues, creating a mechanism with partner companies to deliver menstrual products to municipalities, schools, disaster-affected areas, and other communities and organizations that need them. The sanitary pads donated through this project can be used not only in normal times but also for daily-life support during disasters, including disaster stockpiles, support at evacuation shelters, and local disaster-prevention measures. The project will continue to be developed with educational institutions and local communities as an initiative that contributes to regional security and peace of mind. The “1minute,1napkin” project is also seeking donation recipients. Schools, municipalities, and related parties who support the vision of “a society where anyone who needs sanitary pads can access them at any time” are invited to contact toreluna through its dedicated inquiry form. “toreluna” is a service that enables users to receive sanitary pads free of charge in private toilet stalls. By scanning a QR code displayed on digital signage inside the stall with the smartphone app, users can receive a pad. The cost of pads is covered by advertising revenue from the digital signage, enabling continuous service provision without charging users. To use the service, users download the dedicated “toreluna” app, scan the QR code at the lower right of the digital signage installed in the toilet, and receive a sanitary pad. After receiving one pad, the app is locked for two hours. Users can receive up to seven pads per month. Looking ahead, toreluna aims to realize “a society where people who need sanitary pads can access them at any time” and is expanding installations across Japan. The company will continue expanding into commercial facilities, public facilities, schools, and other locations, while collaborating with municipalities, companies, and support organizations to address women’s health issues and create environments where everyone can feel secure. JOICFP is a Japan-born international cooperation NGO that promotes SRHR as a fundamental human right, with the goal of creating a world where all people can choose their way of life according to their own will. For more than half a century, it has continued activities to protect women’s lives and health in 43 countries and regions, including Japan, while conducting SRHR awareness-raising, education, and advocacy.
