NEXTES Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Masao Inoue, hereinafter NEXTES) has signed a strategic procurement agreement for battery cells with AESC, a world-leading smart battery company. Under this agreement, NEXTES will procure a total of 1.5 GWh of battery cells over three years starting from 2026. This agreement was signed during the "SMART ENERGY WEEK" held at Tokyo Big Sight in March 2026.
Background and Objectives of the Partnership: Strengthening the Supply Chain Amidst Rapid Expansion of the Grid-Connected Energy Storage Market With the expansion of renewable energy adoption, the introduction of grid-connected energy storage systems is rapidly progressing in countries worldwide. In Japan, in particular, the adoption of storage equipment is expanding alongside the development of the electricity market system, and significant market growth is anticipated in the coming years.
In this market environment, one of the crucial factors determining the competitiveness of energy storage systems is a stable supply system for battery cells. Through this agreement, NEXTES will be able to secure AESC's high-quality battery cells for energy storage in the medium to long term. Amidst a global tightening of component supply and demand, we will strengthen our system for promoting energy storage projects in the Japanese and global markets by building a robust supply chain.
Future Outlook The procured battery cells will be used in energy storage systems handled by NEXTES and its wholly-owned subsidiary in Shanghai, China, Shanghai Yifei Tiandi Electric Control Technology Co., Ltd. (EVTD). Through stable procurement via this partnership, NEXTES aims to enhance the reliability and supply capacity of its energy storage systems and steadily execute energy storage projects in Japan and globally. In doing so, we will contribute to the widespread adoption of energy storage systems as infrastructure supporting the proliferation of renewable energy.
