A survey by NEXER and SOLOW of 500 people in Japan explored attitudes toward handmade interior items. Results showed only 13.8% prioritize "handmade" when buying, with most focusing on price and design. However, handmade goods are widely perceived as having warmth and a special rarity, though also as being expensive (44.2%). Among the 7% of respondents who had purchased handmade items, wooden goods were the most popular (51.4%), followed by ceramics. Key purchasing drivers were unique design, warmth, and the appeal of one-of-a-kind items.
