Air China (00753-HK) and Hainan Airlines Holding (600221-CN) announced on Friday the 17th that they have signed aircraft purchase agreements with Airbus. This brings the total number of new aircraft orders placed by Chinese airlines within seven months to 476, all of which are Airbus models.

Air China has ordered 15 Airbus A350-900 wide-body passenger aircraft, while its subsidiary Shenzhen Airlines has ordered 40 Airbus A320neo series narrow-body aircraft. The combined list price of these aircraft is approximately 12.44 billion U.S. dollars.

According to a report by 'First Financial Daily,' Hainan Airlines Holding also plans to purchase 40 Airbus A320neo series aircraft, with the total transaction value not exceeding 5.36 billion U.S. dollars.

Just one month ago, China Eastern Airlines announced a purchase agreement with Airbus for 25 A330neo series aircraft, with a total list price of approximately 9.35 billion U.S. dollars.

In April of this year, China Southern Airlines (CSN) announced that it, along with its subsidiary Xiamen Airlines, had signed agreements with Airbus to purchase 102 and 35 A320neo series aircraft, respectively.

In total, Chinese airlines have placed orders for 476 new Airbus aircraft within seven months, all from Airbus.

In recent years, Airbus has secured a continuous stream of large orders in China. By 2025, Airbus is projected to surpass Boeing in market share in China, reaching 55%. China has already been Airbus's largest single-country market for several consecutive years.

To meet this growing demand, Airbus has activated a second final assembly line for the A320 series in Tianjin. This new production line will support Airbus's goal of increasing monthly production of A320 series aircraft to 75 units by 2027.
