MSI (2377-TW) announced today (16th) a strategic partnership with the Foundation for Information Industry (III), jointly promoting an edge AI industrial collaboration platform through a software-hardware co-creation model. The collaboration formally introduces III's AI architect resources to assist enterprises in deeply integrating on-premise hardware with large language models, aggressively capturing the vast business opportunities in vertical-sector on-premise intelligence upgrades.
MSI Technology's Chief Product Officer, Jen-Fang Peng, stated that while hybrid AI concepts have been popular over the past two years, most SMEs face the challenge of knowing the technology but being unable to implement it effectively. Hardware vendors also frequently encounter bottlenecks where customers demand AI PCs without clarifying specific application scenarios.
To overcome this industry-wide pain point, Peng explained that the AI architects introduced through this partnership will play a role similar to frontline deployment engineers at Silicon Valley tech giants, leading hardware manufacturers to directly engage with enterprises and understand their internal needs.
Under the software-hardware co-creation framework, MSI provides compact edge AI computing devices as core hardware, integrated with III's edge AI knowledge management solution. This architecture enables high-density small language models to be deployed on-premise while maintaining data security and real-time responsiveness, seamlessly connecting with enterprises' existing knowledge management and intelligent workflows.
Peng expressed optimism about the potential of on-premise computing acting as a 'co-pilot brain,' helping heavy users reduce cloud API token costs. He expects this approach to lower enterprise cloud expenses by 30% to 40%.
Looking ahead, MSI will continue integrating its product portfolio with III's industry domain resources, expanding and deepening validation pilots in vertical sectors such as smart transportation, smart logistics, legal, healthcare, and education.
III emphasized that the next stage of generative AI development hinges on bringing technology into real enterprise environments. Through this partnership with MSI, III aims to establish a replicable and scalable edge AI demonstration model, connecting more system integrators and software-hardware partners to build a robust on-premise application ecosystem.
