GlobalWafers (6488-TW) and Micron (MU-US) jointly announced today (9th) the deepening of their long-term strategic collaboration to jointly strengthen U.S. semiconductor manufacturing. Micron will provide $500 million in strategic funding to support the expansion of GlobalWafers’ U.S. operations and enhance its supply capacity. Both parties have also signed a 10-year Long-Term Agreement (LTA).
GlobalWafers stated that this partnership strengthens the resilience of advanced semiconductor silicon wafer supply, supporting growing demand for advanced memory driven by AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and data center applications, as well as securing key material supply for next-generation memory technologies. The collaboration also aims to jointly strengthen the U.S. semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and local supply capabilities for critical materials.
GlobalWafers emphasized that by supplying stable and resilient advanced silicon wafers based on long-term customer demand, the company will further strengthen its local manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., supporting the long-term needs of the U.S. semiconductor supply chain for critical materials.

Through this collaboration, GlobalWafers will further support Micron’s current and future-generation advanced memory products with silicon wafer supply, contributing to enhanced local supply of critical materials within the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem.
