Guild Wars 3 Unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2026

Guild Wars is an MMORPG series developed by ArenaNet, NC's North American development studio. Guild Wars 3 represents the first official numbered title since the announcement of Guild Wars 2 in 2012. It is planned for global service across PC, Steam, and PlayStation®5 (PS5™).

This marks the first time the Guild Wars series has been announced for a console platform, with a beta test scheduled for the second half of 2027.

Colin Johanson, head of ArenaNet and director of Guild Wars 3, stated, 'Guild Wars 3 will be a new turning point not just for the Guild Wars series, but for the entire MMORPG genre.' He added, 'With expectations high among MMORPG players worldwide, our goal is to provide a new gaming experience within an online world characterized by presence, immersion, and innovation, and to showcase a space where we build new stories together with our user community.'

Guild Wars 3 is set approximately 1,000 years before the original Guild Wars, taking place in 'Orr,' a vast frontier filled with the world's magical energy in 'Tyria.' Players embark on an adventure as 'Vaelwarden,' members of a guild dedicated to protecting the spirits of the wild and the land of Orr.

The game features a battle system optimized for both controllers and keyboards, alongside the character customization and progression systems unique to the series. ArenaNet plans to release additional information on Guild Wars 3 sequentially from the second half of 2026 through 2027.
