Naris Cosmetics (Headquarters: Fukushima-ku, Osaka; President and CEO: Hiroyoshi Muraoka) applied to the Japan Anniversary Association (Saku City, Nagano Prefecture) to designate April 8th as "Shirohanamame Extract Day" to commemorate the patent registration of its unique ingredient derived from Shirohanamame (white kidney bean), which combines stratum corneum removal and skin barrier function. The certification was received on March 20th.

Shirohanamame (White Kidney Bean)
Our company, founded in 1932, has had a research and development department since its establishment and has focused on developing unique plant-derived ingredients, paying attention to the hidden power of plants. We currently use over 40 ingredients, aiming to bring unparalleled effects to cosmetic development. Our stratum corneum research has continued for approximately 90 years since the launch of our first wiping lotion, "Naris Conc," in 1937. This time, we established a formulation technology for a lotion that maintains stability even in low-temperature environments while incorporating a higher concentration of our original ingredient "Shirohanamame Extract / INCI name: Phaseolus Vulgaris Seed Extract (moisturizing ingredient)," which combines exfoliation and skin barrier function. This led to patent registration in December 2025. Ingredients derived from Shirohanamame (scientific name: Phaseolus vulgaris) were first patented in September 2019, and related patents were also registered in May 2024. This anniversary certification was granted with the desire to provide a stratum corneum care experience that delivers higher perceived efficacy and brings out the skin's inherent beauty. *In our company, "stratum corneum" refers to the outermost layer of the skin itself, while "dead skin cells" refers to unnecessary aged keratin.

**■ "Shirohanamame Extract," our only exfoliating ingredient.**
Our company has been focusing on the development of "wiping lotions" aimed at leading the skin to a healthy state by gently removing excess dead skin cells. In a survey of domestic corporate wiping lotion sales share conducted by an external research organization in April 2025, we ranked No. 1 for 10 consecutive years. (Survey company: TPC Marketing Research Co., Ltd., results from April 2015 to March 2025) We currently sell 12 types of wiping lotions under our own brands. Until the development of Shirohanamame Extract, we used common ingredients such as arginine and Hatomugi-derived coix seed extract (Yokuinin) as protein-softening ingredients. "Shirohanamame Extract" is the only ingredient among our many unique plant-derived ingredients that possesses an exfoliating function. It has been found to have approximately twice the wiping effect compared to arginine *1 and approximately 1.1 times compared to coix seed extract (Yokuinin) *2. *1 Measured at the same concentration as the amount of arginine contained in the extract *2 Measured at similar extract concentrations. Furthermore, it has also been confirmed to have the effect of softening proteins to loosen dead skin cells and improving epidermal barrier function. We have already launched wiping lotions formulated with "Shirohanamame Extract / INCI name: Phaseolus Vulgaris Seed Extract (moisturizing ingredient)," and with this anniversary certification, we aim to further enhance the recognition of "Shirohanamame."
Added to human stratum corneum: From left, "Shirohanamame," "Yokuinin," "Purified Water." Darker areas indicate hardened stratum corneum; less dark areas indicate more softened stratum corneum.
