Japan's largest international music award, "MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026" (MAJ), will finally hold its awards ceremony on Saturday, June 13. It has been decided that actor Masaki Suda will once again serve as the host of the Grand Ceremony, where the best works/artists in the six main categories and others will be announced, following his role last year.
With the concept of "Connecting with the world, lighting the future of music," Japan's largest international music award, "MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN," will hold its Grand Ceremony on Saturday, June 13 at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO, announcing the best works/artists in the six main categories and others. The Grand Ceremony will be broadcast live on NHK, streamed worldwide on YouTube (excluding some regions), and also streamed live on NTT Docomo's video distribution service Lemino, ABEMA, and radiko.
Masaki Suda has been selected as the host of the Grand Ceremony, where the best works/artists in the main categories will be decided. He also served as the host of last year's Grand Ceremony and participated in the red carpet, generating significant buzz. He will energize TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO, where a host of nominated and performing artists will gather, and help broadcast Japanese and Asian music to the world.
At the Grand Ceremony, in addition to the announcement of the best works/artists in the six main categories and others, spectacular performances by a lineup of artists will be presented. The performance segment will feature live sets by 12 artists: Fujii Kaze, HANA, MISAMO, Sam Smith, Sakanaction, Chanmina, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra with Special Guests [LiSA, TAKUMA (10-FEET), Aina The End], Hitsujibungaku, and Kenshi Yonezu, energizing the venue.
*Artist names are listed in numerical, alphabetical, and Japanese syllabary order. *All performing artists will appear regardless of whether they win the Best Work/Artist award.
[Masaki Suda Profile] Born on February 21, 1993, in Osaka Prefecture. Debuted in 2009 with 'Kamen Rider W'. Won the Newcomer Actor Award at the 37th Japan Academy Prize for 'Tomogui' and the Best Actor Award at the 41st Japan Academy Prize for 'Ah, Wilderness'. Swept film awards in 2017 for the latter, establishing himself as a leading young actor active in various fields. His achievements that year were recognized with the 68th Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize for Newcomers in the Film Division. Began music activities in 2017, debuting with the single 'Mita Koto mo Nai Keshiki'. His song 'Sayonara Elegy' ranked #1 on LINE MUSIC's 2018 annual chart. 'Machigaisagashi', released in May 2019, topped various distribution stores, achieving his first three consecutive weekly #1s on the Oricon Weekly Digital Single Ranking and surpassing 300 million streams. That year, he made his first appearance on the '70th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen' and received a Special Award at the '61st Japan Record Awards'. His November 2020 release 'Niji' also surpassed 400 million streams. He has garnered significant attention as a music artist. In 2023, he appeared in the film 'Ginga Tetsudo no Chichi', Studio Ghibli's latest film 'How Do You Live?' (voice actor), and the film 'Mystery to Iunakare'. In 2024, he appeared in 'Warai no Kaibutsu', 'Theatrical Edition: Kimi to Sekai ga Owaru Hi ni FINAL', and 'Cloud'. In 2025, he appeared in the films 'Sunset Sunrise' and 'Meets the World' (voice role). Currently, the Netflix series 'Glass Heart' is streaming. He is also appearing in the NHK Taiga drama 'Toyotomi Kyodai!', and the film 'Hito wa Naze Love Letter o Kaku no ka' is currently in theaters. His upcoming work includes 'Kokurojo' (scheduled for release on June 19, 2026).
