Moplus Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Ken Yanase; COO: Kazuaki Nakagawa) is pleased to announce that the EV car-sharing model project for government vehicles, which our company and Nissan Car Rental Solutions Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa; President: Satoshi Okamoto) have been commissioned to operate by Chiba Prefecture, will commence on April 1, 2026.
This model project is being implemented as part of Chiba Prefecture's efforts to promote decarbonization toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. By introducing an electric vehicle (EV) car-sharing service at the Katori Joint Government Building, the vehicles will be used as government vehicles on weekdays and made available to residents and tourists on weekends and holidays.
[About the EV Car-Sharing Service We Provide] To meet diversifying mobility needs, we provide mobility services utilizing AI on-demand transport and autonomous driving technology, as well as car-sharing services using electric vehicles currently used by local companies and public facilities. By renting out EVs used as government or company vehicles to local residents and tourists during idle hours, we aim to contribute to solving regional mobility and energy issues.
Moving forward, we will continue to propose comprehensive solutions tailored to the needs of regions and customers, including support for energy management services that realize emergency power supply and peak shifting using EVs, thereby contributing to the realization of a sustainable local society.
[Project Overview] Chiba Prefecture is promoting the decarbonization of transport to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In this model project, we aim to realize a "Zero Carbon Drive" by introducing EVs that emit no CO2 while driving, and by installing solar power generation equipment and storage batteries in addition to standard chargers.
On weekends and holidays, in addition to being used by local residents for shopping and other daily travel, the service can also be used for tourism, such as traveling to the Katori Jingu Shrine and the Suigo Sawara Ayame Park located near the Katori Joint Government Building.
In this model project, Moplus is responsible for the planning and service design of the car-sharing, while Nissan Car Rental Solutions is responsible for operations such as reservations, rentals, and vehicle management for users. Through the operation of the EV car-sharing service, we will analyze usage status and needs, and consider the project's effectiveness, sustainability, and scalability.
