Profile of Takeshi Yoro
Born in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1937. Anatomist. Graduated from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine. Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo. In 1989, he received the Suntory Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities for 'Karada no Mikata' (A Way of Looking at the Body). His 2003 book 'Baka no Kabe' became a bestseller, winning the Buzzword Award and the Mainichi Publishing Culture Award Special Prize. Other notable works include 'Yuino-ron', 'Yuigon.', and 'Jinsei no Kabe'. He is also known as a great insect lover and has established an 'Insect Mound' at Kencho-ji Temple in Kamakura, where he holds an annual memorial service.
