Monolith Law Office (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Lawyer: Toki Kawase), which has strengths in 'Law x IT Technology', announces that 6 new lawyers of the 78th term have joined in April 2026, bringing the total number of affiliated lawyers to a 30-member system.

Our firm will further strengthen our support system in cutting-edge legal areas, such as AI governance, cross-border legal affairs including Taiwan, and Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Act compliance in the D2C market, to respond to the rapidly changing digital business environment.

Introduction of New Lawyers and Background of Organizational Expansion
From April 2026, the following 6 lawyers (78th term) have joined our firm. As a group specializing in 'IT and Internet Business Law', our firm supports companies in avoiding IT risks and achieving growth.

By adding young lawyers who possess the latest legal knowledge, high affinity for technology typical of the digital-native generation, and agile mobility, we are able to provide even faster and more specialized legal services to our client companies.

This transition to a 30-member system means more than just expanding human resources; it represents a critical point where the specialization of tasks and flexibility of team formation dramatically increase. The goal is to subdivide specialized teams focusing on specific technological domains or legal fields, thereby dramatically improving our processing capacity to drive clients' innovative businesses from a legal perspective.

Strategic Development from 2025 Onwards and Main Legal Areas Provided
Since April 2025, our firm has undertaken the following pioneering initiatives and system reinforcements to accompany the diversification and globalization of client companies' businesses.

1. Building Cross-Border Legal Infrastructure through Partnership with a Taiwanese Law Firm
We have entered into a strategic business alliance with Wisebeam Law in Taipei, Taiwan, and launched a joint operational site (wisebeam-monolith.tw). We handle increasingly complex cross-border cases between Japan and Taiwan, such as labor legislation, intellectual property protection, due diligence (DD) in M&A, and overseas expansion of creators and VTubers, bidirectionally in Japanese and Chinese.

The 6 newly joined young lawyers are intended to be deployed as immediate assets for meticulous legal research in these cross-border cases and crafting sophisticated contracts to bridge the differences in laws and business customs between the two countries.

2. Support for Developing Corporate AI Internal Regulations and Building Governance
To address practical issues like 'shadow AI', we provide system enhancement support based on three scopes: risk materialization, decision-making process design (development of intermediate layer checklists), and ensuring legal effectiveness. We realize agile governance building through a hybrid system of IT consultants and lawyers.

With the addition of new graduate lawyers, the productivity of this hybrid system will drastically improve, strengthening the foundation to continuously update regulations in line with the rapidly changing regulatory trends such as the European AI Act, Copyright Act, and Personal Information Protection Law.

3. Premiums and Representations Act, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Act, and EC Legal Support in D2C/EC Markets
Against the backdrop of tightening regulations accompanying the expansion of SNS advertising, we support the legal checking of landing pages (LPs) and the construction of internal compliance systems. In addition, we provide practical services supporting the foundation of digital platforms, such as preparing terms of use for EC operators and reviewing the legality of business models accompanying the introduction of new technologies.
