monoDuki LLC. (Headquarters: Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture; Representative: Shotaro Murakami) provided accompanying support for practical digital human resource development, centered on the launch of an XR (Extended Reality) club, at Harada Gakuen Kagoshima Johoku High School, a DX High School certified institution (2nd year of continuation in Reiwa 7th fiscal year).

In this initiative, students from various departments, including Multimedia and Information Systems, came together. Starting from the students' desire to "launch an XR club," they achieved exhibition at "XR Kaigi," one of Japan's largest conferences, after just two months of production, despite having no prior experience, thereby establishing a new educational model for nurturing next-generation creators.

2) Common On-site Challenges at DX High Schools and the Positioning of This Case Study

While the development of digital equipment is progressing in schools, including DX High Schools, it is not uncommon for challenges to arise regarding "how to integrate advanced equipment into actual classes and inquiry activities" and "how to reduce the instructional burden on teachers."

In this case, by utilizing the framework of "club activities" and combining it with monoDuki LLC.'s specialized accompanying support, we succeeded in fostering students' spontaneous creative activities while suppressing the burden on teachers.

This initiative aims to serve as a reference model for future education DX promotion.

3) Background and Process of Introduction

Kagoshima Johoku High School had the following challenges and visions:

  • Responding to students' desire to "launch an XR-related club activity."

  • Co-creating an "advanced case study" that symbolizes school-wide educational reform in the XR field, where there are few examples in educational institutions.

  • Realizing student-led practical digital human resource development.

However, launching from scratch required specialized know-how. Therefore, monoDuki LLC. proposed accompanying support premised on implementation in educational activities, and this initiative began.

Planning and Implementation of Training and Experience Sessions (July 2025)

As an initiative for new technologies, monoDuki LLC. staff collaborated with students interested in XR to plan and conduct training and experience sessions for faculty and staff.

The aim was to foster an attitude where "teachers and students learn together" when introducing new technologies, and to make teachers from not only related departments like Multimedia but also general and commercial departments feel that they could "utilize" it.

On the day of the event, students involved in the planning also participated as support staff in the experience session.

Planning and Implementation of "Club Member Recruitment Experience Session" (October 2025)

Introduced and provided experience with XR and AI to students. According to the survey results, out of 28 participating students, 11 immediately wished to join the club, and 14 were considering it, showing high interest in 3D modeling and programming.

Support for Production and Exhibition at "XR Kaigi" (November - December 2025)

The newly established club began team production activities, participating in practical inquiry activities with connections to society, such as exhibiting at "XR Kaigi," one of Japan's largest XR conferences, and holding an XR photo session.

After the exhibition, a debriefing was held within the club through a Q&A session with Ms. Nakamura, the teacher in charge, and Mr. Murakami, the representative of monoDuki LLC., to ensure that students could reflect on their experiences not just as events, but as their own learning and growth.

6) Voices from Teachers and Students at the Adopting School

■Teacher Comments

Principal

I believe the students felt the difficulty of thoroughly completing the process to the goal of exhibiting at "XR Kaigi." Over the three days, seeing corporate booths for inspiration and explaining their own booth to visitors, the students grew dramatically.

The coming generation will require problem-solving skills. We expect students to create new businesses and systems by developing an environment where they can select and utilize optimal technologies like AI and XR. To achieve this, we recognize the importance of providing opportunities to experience 'living, on-site wisdom' that cannot be fully conveyed by school teachers alone.

Ms. Nakamura

Initially, it was a stage of 'experiencing content,' but with the opportunity, we were able to significantly shift towards 'creating ourselves.'

Initially, there was anxiety about 'what could be done in a two-month period,' but students from the Multimedia and Information Systems departments were able to enjoy their activities across departmental boundaries and reach the point of presenting it in a tangible form. This was far more practical than regular classes, and the fact that students themselves spontaneously expressed 'I wish I could have done more' shows the significant educational impact of this project.

■Student Comments

Haruka Yamanaka, XR Club President

Through our activities, I realized that there are still many people who don't know about the XR industry. This realization makes me feel a sense of purpose in our future activities. Going forward, I want to actively participate in events and other activities, while prioritizing that I and the club members enjoy ourselves.

Yusei Ishihara, XR Club Vice President

We also didn't know much about XR at first, and I feel that the best part of our activities so far has been the sense of 'learning new things.' Through events like XR Kaigi, I worked on production using software I hadn't touched before, and receiving feedback from various people, I've gradually been able to do more, which makes me feel a sense of growth.
