Anniversary Message from the President

I am Jotarou Tamura, and I assumed the position of President today. I am filled with both anticipation and tension as I embark on this new voyage with all of you. I look forward to working with you all. First, I would like to address the current Middle East situation, which began with the military actions by the U.S. and Israel against Iran on February 28. I express my sincere respect to all of you for performing your duties under these difficult and prolonged circumstances. The de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has already lasted for a month, and addressing its significant impact is an urgent task. Above all, we will prioritize the safety of our crew members, and I will personally lead the command, working closely with the Japanese government to resolve the situation as soon as possible. Today, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines celebrates its 142nd anniversary. Fiscal 2026 marks the beginning of the new five-year period of the 'BLUE ACTION 2035' Phase 2 management plan. In September, we will launch the 'MITSUI OCEAN SAKURA' in addition to our flagship cruise ship, 'MITSUI OCEAN FUJI'. We will make every effort to ensure that more people can enjoy 'Beautiful Japanese Cruises.' Regarding our foundations, I would like to reflect on April 2021, five years ago, when we announced our new Corporate Philosophy, Group Vision, and Values/Action Guidelines. Our philosophy, 'From the blue oceans, we sustain people's daily lives and open up a prosperous future,' reflects our desire to expand our business fields starting from the sea, our core field. This aligns with redefining ourselves as a 'Social Infrastructure Company.' We are currently promoting offshore businesses in oil, gas, and wind power, terminal businesses in chemical and automobile transport, and overseas investments in logistics and real estate. Our values, 'MOL CHARTS,' added 'S' (Safety) five years ago. Today, we established the Safety and Quality Management Division. We will continue to pursue our long-term plan, 'BLUE ACTION 2035,' while flexibly adjusting strategies at the business level. We will focus on 'Earning Power,' 'Capital Allocation,' and 'Strengthening Management Foundations.' We must embody 'Teamwork' and 'Sense of Ownership' to achieve our goals. Let us make this 142nd year a fruitful one.
